The Wedding Ministry
The main purpose of the Wedding Ministry at First Baptist Church is to communicate the priority of a Christ-centered marriage with its foundation being a personal faith in Jesus Christ, to encourage the bride and groom to gain an understanding of the principles and guidelines of marriage as taught in the Bible, and to provide guidance in planning a wedding ceremony that is a joyous, meaningful and worshipful occasion – signifying the new beginning of a man and woman joining their lives together for a lifetime.
The Marriage Covenant
It is the belief of First Baptist Church that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Gen. 2:18-25). God established marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman to reflect Christ’s relationship with His Church (Eph. 5:21-23).
Procedures for scheduling your wedding
Members or children/grandchildren of members are invited to fill out a wedding request form. The form is available in the Counseling Office or can be completed online here.
Upon approval of the request, the Wedding Coordinator will schedule an initial appointment with the bride and her family to confirm the date and time of the wedding, determine facility requirements, and review the fees, policies, and guidelines of First Baptist Church. The Wedding Coordinator will answer any questions and address any special needs concerning the wedding.
